The air is crisp, the leaves are crunching under your boots, and your dog’s tail is wagging like crazy—yep, it’s officially fall! 🍁 Our pups love this season just as much as we do (maybe more, since every leaf pile looks like the ultimate playground). If you’re looking for fun ways to make the most of autumn with your four-legged best friend, here are a few ideas:
1. Leaf Pile Playtime
Dogs don’t care that you just spent 30 minutes raking—they see a giant pile of joy waiting to be jumped into. Let them dive, dig, and roll around (just maybe snap the picture before they scatter your hard work).
2. Pumpkin Patch Adventures
So many farms welcome well-behaved dogs! Your pup will love exploring new smells, posing for a few adorable fall photos, and maybe even picking out their very own pumpkin (okay, you’ll carry it, but they’ll supervise).
👉 Ollie is a big fan of this one—he loves tagging along to pumpkin patches and even breweries (because really, who doesn’t enjoy a good fall drink and some pup-friendly company?).
3. Scenic Walks & Sniffing Tours
Fall walks hit different—the cooler temps mean longer strolls without overheating. Let your dog slow down and enjoy the season with extra sniffing time. Every fallen leaf seems to hold a new story.
👉 Remmi especially loves fall hikes. The cooler weather makes the trails perfect for exploring without getting too hot, and the crunchy leaves under paw make every step extra fun.
4. Cozy Nights In
When the sun sets earlier, your dog is usually more than happy to curl up on the couch with you. Grab a blanket, light a fall candle, and enjoy some pup snuggles while the world outside gets chilly.
👉 Nova is all about the cozy life—cooler evenings mean extra cuddle sessions on the couch, which is pretty much her idea of the perfect night.
👉 Winston is happiest when he can be right by mom’s side, soaking up every minute of that fall coziness.
5. Dog-Friendly Fall Treats (DIY Pumpkin Biscuits)
Pumpkin isn’t just for lattes—it’s actually great for dogs too (in moderation and plain, no sugar or spices). Try making this super simple recipe that’s Moe Moe-approved:
Easy Pumpkin Dog Treats
2 ½ cups oat flour (you can grind rolled oats in a blender if you don’t have flour)
1 cup canned pumpkin (plain, not pie filling)
1 egg
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix pumpkin and egg in a bowl. Stir in oat flour until a dough forms.
Roll out dough to about ¼ inch thick and cut into shapes (bone cutters are fun, but any shape works).
Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes, until firm.
Let cool completely before treating your pup.
👉 Harper would never let us forget this part—because if there are treats involved, you can count her in. She’s the house hippo, and she takes her taste-testing duties very seriously.
These can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week—or pop them in the freezer to last longer.
At the end of the day, fall isn’t just about the weather—it’s about the little moments that make us slow down and appreciate life. And if anyone knows how to live in the moment, it’s our pups. 🐾❤️
