Why We Keep Coming Back to Potter Family Campground – A Dog-Friendly Adventure Basecamp 🐾🏕️

Every year, when the weather warms and the trails start calling, there’s one place that always makes it to the top of our list—Potter Family Campground. It’s become our go-to getaway, and not just for the humans in our family—our dogs love it just as much as we do!

🐶 A Dog’s Campground

One of the biggest reasons we keep coming back? It’s dog-friendly. There’s plenty of room at the campsite for walking, sniffing, and stretching those paws. While there aren’t official trails, there are nearby woods to wander through if your pup enjoys a little off-the-path exploring. After a full day of adventuring, our dogs love curling up by the fire—content, tired, and happy. And the campground staff always greet them with a smile.

🛻 The Trails Are Right There!

Another reason we return every year? It’s just minutes from great ATV trails. Whether you're into easy scenic routes or more rugged rides, the access to the trail system is unbeatable. It’s so convenient to ride straight from the campground without having to haul your ATVs again once you arrive.

There’s something special about mornings that start with coffee over the campfire and end with a dusty, muddy ride through the woods—it’s a tradition we look forward to year after year.

🔥 More Reasons We Love It (With a Few Honest Notes)

  • Family-Owned Feel: Potter Family Campground has a welcoming, small-town vibe. The owners care, and it shows.

  • Spacious Sites: Whether you're in an RV or tent camping, there's plenty of space for everyone—including your dogs to stretch out without feeling cramped.

  • Firepits & Relaxing Evenings: After a day on the trails, nothing beats sitting around the fire with your crew (and your pups!) under the stars.

  • Close to Town (But Feels Tucked Away): You’re not far from basics like groceries or gas, but the campground still feels peaceful and removed from the chaos.

  • Cabin Options: They offer both basic sleeping cabins and cabins with bathrooms, which is a nice convenience if you’re not bringing a camper.

🔧 A Couple Things to Know: While we love coming back year after year, we’ll be the first to admit that some areas could use a little updating, especially the shower houses and a few of the cabins. They’re functional and clean, but just a little worn around the edges. But honestly? For us, the charm, the location, and the dog-friendly vibes far outweigh that.

🐾 Our Annual Tradition

Now, it’s become more than just a trip—it’s a tradition. The dogs recognize the place when we pull in. We’ve made so many memories here—first rides, first campouts, muddy paw prints in the RV, and late-night snuggles after long days.

If you're looking for a dog-friendly campground near ATV trails, this one checks every box. Potter Family Campground has earned its spot as our little adventure home away from home.
